While stray puppies roam the streets, their hearts flicker in the hope that soon their luck will change.
Their biggest wish is to find a place to call home and get a family that will love them and make them feel safe.
Betsy was one of those strays who longed to feel loved and cared for. It was something she had longed for all her life.
Having been injured one day, she knew that she should ask humans to help her. And while she was walking around the neighborhood, her heart led her to the threshold of a family she had never seen before.
Tired and injured, she curled up in front of their house, hoping that they would help her.
Hoping to meet good human beings
When April and Joe Sullivan opened their front door, they were surprised to find a black dog lying on the porch. The first thing they noticed was the sad look in her eyes. The dog looked as if she was about to give up on herself.
Sullivan stroked the dog and tried to make her feel better. They were saddened when they realized that the dog was injured, and she was unable to walk on her own.
The granddaughter of the couple was also there. Jo always taught her to be careful about puppies she didn't know, but from the very beginning, it was clear that she could let down her guard in front of sweet Betsy.
"There Was something about Betsy. Even as sick as she was, [she] leaned over to caress her, she was licking her. Just Sweet, " said April.
Their granddaughter's heart melted after seeing that Betsy loved her. She was fascinated by the cheerful dog and could not stop looking at her.
Betsy gets the help and care she needs
As soon as the family fed Betsy, they decided to take her to the vet. Joe gently took her in his arms. As he carried her to his car, he gave her a loving kiss. The dog felt safe.
Joe and April do not know how Betsy was injured, but they assume that she was hit by a car. They also knew that the puppy would need a permanent home after she recovered.
As soon as Betsy received a full veterinary examination, the veterinarian informed the Sullivan family that she had nerve damage, and she would need a lot of care.
Joe took Betsy home. He and his wife took care of her and hugged her. They made sure she knew how much they loved her.
Getting the love she craved
Betsy was very affectionate and grateful for all the love and care that the family gave her. She licks their faces and gave them sweet kisses. She was letting them know she loved them, too.
The loving dog stole April's heart, and the couple decided that Betsy would stay in their house forever. Joe admitted that he wants to keep Betsy since he saw her. He was just looking for a way to make it work.
Other family dogs usually do not get along well with other puppies, but they accepted Betsy into their pack.
"Our dogs usually don't like other dogs. She loves our dogs. They don't like her as much as she likes them, but they're all fine and that's not normal for our dogs,"he said.
Thanks to the excellent care of her family, Betsy made an extraordinary recovery. She is able to go up and down the stairs on her own.
Sullivan was thrilled to see that Betsy turned into a happy dog who loves life.
Knowing that Betsy's greatest wish came true makes me feel thrilled. She deserved to be showered with the love she lacked while living on the streets. Betsy will never be left alone again.
I hope that all stray puppies will be rescued from the streets, and they will find their way to their home forever. All stray dogs equally deserve a feeling of love and pride.
